Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain, chairman of Malaysia’s Lembaga Tabung Haji, has expressed his appreciation for Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia and other hospitality facilities developed by Indonesian investment company EGI Resources in Uzbekistan. Abdul Rashid previously stayed at Hadith Hotel while attending The First International Conference: Al-Jami’ al-Musnad al-Sahih: The Book of an Ummah at the Imam Bukhari Complex in Samarkand. He also visited Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia alongside Malaysia’s Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, and prominent Malaysian Islamic scholar Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin (Dr. Maza).

Abdul Rashid shared his positive impressions during a meeting with EGI Resources representatives Agus Ruhiat and Iwel Sastra at the Tabung Haji headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The discussions focused on potential cooperation between TH Travel & Services and EGI Resources to support the development of religious tourism in Uzbekistan. According to Abdul Rashid, EGI Resources’ hotels in the Imam Bukhari Complex offer strong potential to accommodate Malaysian pilgrims and travelers visiting Samarkand, one of the Muslim world’s most significant historical and religious destinations.

The meeting also highlighted Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to promote religious tourism, particularly in Samarkand and Tashkent, as international destinations for Islamic heritage travel. Both parties expressed optimism that cooperation between TH Travel & Services and EGI Resources would extend beyond commercial interests, serving as a symbol of the close cultural and historical ties between Indonesia and Malaysia while strengthening people-to-people connections with Uzbekistan through religious tourism.
